Bruce Belair was born and raised in Bedford, Nova Scotia, a suberb in the Metro Halifax Municipality of Nova Scotia, Canada. A passionate individual with a hunger for adventure, Bruce has always lived his life on the cutting edge. Ever since he committed his life to Jesus Christ at the age of eighteen in 1976, Bruce has passionately devoted himself to serving God and living his life wholeheartedly for the purposes of the Kingdom. In 1983, Bruce founded the Shiloh Youth Mission at Rock Church in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Shiloh Youth Mission, a ministry devoted to the discipleship and mentoring of young people, flourished under Bruce’s capable leadership for twenty-three years. During the years that he oversaw Shiloh, Bruce devoted himself to preaching, teaching, mentoring, and the discipleship of hundreds of young people for the purpose of fulfilling the destiny that God had created them for. During this time Bruce led multiple missions trips, both in Canada, the United States, and overseas.
During his years of ministry at Rock Church in Halifax, Bruce has demonstrated the gift of realizing the hidden potential in people, and assisting them to achieve the calling that God has placed on their lives. Bruce is known for his innate ability to empower individuals, and as a result, has successfully mentored many young leaders whose lives are characterized by integrity and whose hearts are gripped by the purposes of God for their generation.
One of Bruce’s disciples, Pastor Mike Miller, currently serves as the full time Youth Pastor and Missions Director at Rock Church. He received the torch of leadership that was passed on to him and continues the legacy of youth ministry started by Bruce. As a result, Shiloh Youth Mission lives on, reaching out to hundreds of young people on a weekly basis.Equipped with a unique gift to reach young and old, Bruce effectively bridges the generations, bringing them together in a way that is concurrent with the Biblical mandate for the church. Although his primary ministry through his life has been to young people, his spirit burns with the fire of evangelism, spurred on with a passionate desire to help people prepare to meet Jesus Christ. Bruce believes that the church today is in need of so much more than motivational talks; what is truly needed is a demonstration of the power of God, which comes when the Word of God is implanted in our hearts.
Bruce and his wife, Lisa Anne, have been married 25 years and have three children, Brittany, Michael, and Daniel.
